A selection of photos taken during winter from within and around Porthcothan Bay.
Crashing waves on Will's Rock. In January 1998 when winds reached 90 mph the rock was completely obscured by the spray of breaking waves that reached upwards of 100 feet high.
Massive waves crashing over the Trescor Islands whilst a ray of sunlight breaks thick cloud. Photograph taken about 1000 metres along the cliff path.
Bright light and patterns on the beach after a winter storm. At this time of year the sand on the beach can change quite markedly exposing rocks and boulders that had previously been covered.
A strong gale lashes the coast in January. Arch Rock can be seen in the foreground. This picture was taken just 100 metres beyond Golden Burn beach.
